Celebrating 300 years of Menino Deus church

Free Entrance.
National Monument, the Menino Deus church is a work of great historic and heritage importance. Half-hidden on the east hillside of S. Goerge’s Castle, this temple is of an outstanding architectural quality and originality, coupled with the fact that it is one of the few churches that escaped intact the great earthquake of 1755 and is a true landmark of Baroque Architecture nationally. The design of the work is attributed to the Royal Architect João Antunes (1642-1712), author of reference works such as the Church of Santa Engracia in Lisbon.
To go from Palácio Belmonte, catch the 28 electric tram.
