Curated by Neil Cox, this exhibition will focus on modernity seen through landmark works by over seventy of the most famous names in world art, bringing together almost a hundred paintings not only by artists as Picasso, Dalí, Cezanne, Renoir, Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Matisse… but also the Portuguese artists Amadeo De Souza-Cardoso, Vieira da Silva, and many more. A unique voyage through various periods and geographies of European stilllife painting illustrated by some of the greatest works by artists who did most to stamp their mark on the field. This exhibition has been commissioned by Professor Neil Cox of the University of Essex, a specialist in 20th century French art who did his doctoral thesis on Picasso and has since published an impressive body of work.
